Imagine waking up with soft, defined, wide-awake eyes — no mascara, no lash curler, no morning routine. That is exactly what classic eyelash extensions deliver. Also known as the 1:1 or lash-by-lash technique, this is the most refined and natural service in the extension world. In our Geneva studio, dedicated entirely to the eyes, we place one extension on one natural lash: a precise, patient craft that lengthens and lifts what you already have without ever weighing it down.
What are classic 1:1 extensions?
The idea is beautifully simple and technically demanding: for each mature natural lash, we apply one single extension, chosen for its length, curl and thickness to match your own. We don't fill gaps with clusters or fans — we follow the natural line of your lashes and enhance it fibre by fibre.
The finish looks like a coat of well-applied mascara that never smudges, never flakes and stays put day and night. This is the true meaning of "your lashes but better": nobody guesses you're wearing extensions — they simply notice your eyes look brighter and more rested.
Classic vs Russian volume vs hybrid
- Classic (1:1) — one extension per lash. Natural density, feather-light, faithful to your own lash line. The go-to for first-timers and lovers of subtlety.
- Russian volume (2D–6D and beyond) — several ultra-fine extensions fanned onto one lash. Dense, glamorous, made-up effect.
- Hybrid — a blend of classic singles and volume fans. A textured middle ground: fuller than 1:1, softer than full volume.
If your priority is discretion and protecting the health of your natural lashes, classic remains the benchmark.
The appointment, step by step
- Consultation & mapping — we study your eye shape, lash condition and preferences, then design a bespoke "map" of lengths and curls suited to your face.
- Comfortable set-up — you lie back, the lower lashes shielded with hydrating pads, eyes gently closed for the whole session.
- Isolation — each natural lash is separated individually so no two lashes stick together.
- Lash-by-lash application — every extension is dipped in a drop of professional adhesive and placed roughly a millimetre from the lid, never on the skin.
- Setting & check — we confirm adhesion, brush the line and verify that both eyes are symmetrical.
Allow around 1.5 to 2 hours for a full new set, in a calm, unhurried setting.
The everyday benefits
- Defined eyes from morning to night, with zero make-up.
- Genuine time saved every day.
- A lasting curl that a lash curler can't hold.
- A natural look that suits the office and special occasions alike.
- Total comfort — a well-applied classic set is virtually weightless.
Who are classic extensions for?
For first-timers who want to try extensions without a dramatic effect; for anyone devoted to a natural look; for those who already have healthy lashes that simply need lengthening; for lifestyles and professions that call for understatement. If your natural lashes are fine or sparse, the classic technique respects them rather than overloading them — which is why it's usually the best place to start.
Discovery set & lower lashes
- Discovery set (lash-by-lash) — a lighter application, perfect for testing how extensions feel and how the upkeep fits your routine before committing to a full set. The gentlest way to try.
- Lower-lash extensions (classic) — fine extensions on the lower lid to intensify and balance the eye, often added alongside an upper set.
New set or refill: understanding the rhythm
A new set dresses the entire lash line on a clean base (or after a removal). It's your starting point.
A refill tops the line back up. Your natural lashes grow on a cycle, and some shed naturally, taking their extension with them. We remove any loosened extensions and add new ones onto freshly grown lashes. To keep the line looking full, plan a refill every 2 to 4 weeks. The longer you wait, the more rebuilding a refill requires — which is why there are two prices depending on the interval.
Longevity & aftercare
Cared for properly, classic extensions follow the natural cycle of your lashes. Retention depends largely on your daily habits.
Do
- Cleanse the lash line gently with a dedicated lash shampoo.
- Brush the extensions each morning with the spoolie provided.
- Sleep on your back where possible.
Don't
- Expose lashes to water or hot steam in the first 24 hours.
- Use oily or greasy products around the eyes.
- Apply mascara over extensions or use a mechanical curler.
- Rub, pull or pick at your lashes.

Why choose our Geneva lash specialist
We're not a general beauty salon: our Geneva studio is devoted entirely to the eyes. That focus changes everything — the precision of isolation, the quality of materials, an uncompromising respect for the natural lash. Easily reached from the city centre, Eaux-Vives, Plainpalais or the Right Bank, our cabin is a calm space where every set is mapped to you. In Geneva, a city where quiet elegance is second nature, the 1:1 technique feels right at home.
Frequently asked questions
Does it hurt?
Not at all. Your eyes stay closed and relaxed — many clients drift off during the session.
Will it damage my natural lashes?
A well-executed classic set, with an extension weighted to your own lash, fully respects your growth cycle. That gentleness is the whole point of 1:1.
How long do extensions last?
The line stays lovely for 2 to 4 weeks before a refill, in step with your lashes' regrowth.
Can I wear make-up over them?
A light eyeshadow, yes — but skip mascara and oily removers, which weaken the adhesive.
How is this different from Russian volume?
Classic places one extension per lash (natural effect); volume fans several fibres onto one lash (dense, made-up effect).
Can I move up to volume later?
Absolutely. Many clients begin with 1:1 and progress to hybrid or volume as they wish.
What if my extensions were applied elsewhere?
We carry out a careful removal with a Botox lash treatment, then a fresh new set on a clean base.
Who is the Discovery set for?
Anyone wanting to trial the technique and upkeep before committing to a full set.
